The Treaty No.6 Grand Chief is

Grand Chiefs Terms of Reference
Appointment and Term of Office:
The Chiefs Grand Chief will be appointed Annually by Motion of the Chiefs at the Annual Gerneral Meeting of the Confederacy of Treaty No.6 First Nations.
The Chiefs Grand Chief will be rotated by area:
- TRIBAL CHIEFS ASSOCIATION AREA
- YELLOWHEAD TRIBAL COUNCIL AREA
- MASKWACHIYS CREES OF HOBBEMA AREA
- INDEPENDENTS: SADDLE LAKE CREE NATION, PAUL FIRST NATION AND ONION LAKE CREE NATION
Responsibilities for the Grand Chief of the Confederacy:
-The Grand Chief, selected by the Chiefs, will seek and recieve directions from the Chiefs on the issues that he/she must repond to as the Grand Chief for the Chiefs of the Confederacy of Treaty No.6 First Nations. The Grand Chief will be resonsible in reporting to the Chiefs, either in Assembly or individually on matters authorized by the Chiefs.
-The Grand Chief will be in liaison with the Senior Management personnel to ensure proper follow up and accountability on behalf of the Chiefs collectively and will report to the Chiefs on this process.
-The Grand Chief will liaison with other Grand Chiefs/Spokesman Chiefs, Departmental officials and government on behalf of the Chiefs and will report back to the Cheifs on this process.
-The Grand Chief will recieve authority of the Chiefs by Motion or official consensus to enter into agreements, make official statements, or respond to other matters that require a collectively decision
